With all the development surrounding Choctaw Casinos in Durant, it usually is easy to see the added benefits to our construction efforts. However, lately the big question buzzing through the streets is Why are they tearing down the Coliseum? The answer is trust land. Choctaw Casinos wants to be your entertainment destination by bringing you more games, more fun, and more amenities right here in Southeastern Oklahoma. Since the Choctaw Nation can only build its casinos on trust land, the Coliseum is the only option. It has been a great venue in the past for our events and has functioned well. However, there are some great things coming with its demolition.
The Choctaw Nation would proudly like to announce the addition of the Choctaw Events Center, which will be located at what was formerly known as the North Arena. Also on the horizon in 2010, Choctaw Casinos will unveil it’s new addition to the Durant Resort with its new amenities such as a Spa, many more dining venues within, and more games located on 300,000 sq footage of gaming floor. With the demolition of the Coliseum, we are moving our larger events to the North Arena, soon to be converted to the Choctaw Event Center by June of 2008.
The Choctaw Event Center will be a venue for every occasion, with state of the art sound and video equipment, climate controlled atmosphere, and hard surfaced flooring. This magnificent multipurpose venue will offer an intimate setting for your next Convention, Banquet, Reception, or other Corporate Event or with 3,000 seats; the Event Center will host a variety of first-rate entertainers. Asleep at the Wheel and Charley Pride June 7, 2008, Air Supply November 8, 2008, and our 4th Annual Pow Wow November 29, 2008, just to name a few of the exciting events that are planned for 2008.
